janusGATE FedLink Monitor

For users of the Australian Government’s Fedlink

janusGATE FedLink Monitor has been designed as an aid for IT Systems Administrators in those Australian Government agencies and organisations that use the Australian Government's FedLink to secure their electronic communications across the Internet.
janusGATE FedLink Monitor is a software application that checks and retrieves information that is posted on the FedLink status website. It then allows Administrators to easily maintain address lists of organisations connected to the FedLink VPN in their organisation’s email gateway.
Commonwealth agencies on the FedLink network must have rules at their gateway to filter official email messages as they leave and enter their local network.
For any outbound email message the agency’s email gateway must know:

1. the security classification of the message
   This is determined by text parsing rules in the gateway that detect the security classification that has been applied to the message using tools such as janusNET’s janusSEAL for Outlook. And...
2. the lowest security rating of all networks over which the message must travel to reach its destinationThis can be determined for messages that will be routed via FedLink by configuring the agency's gateway with information about the external email domains for those messages, and the security rating of that domain’s email service.

janusGATE FedLink Monitor automates and greatly simplifies the retrieval, configuration and maintenance of this knowledge in the email gateway.

• An extensible export mechanism that can be adapted to work with any email gateway that supports importing of addresses from text files.
• Can export complete status information or only the changes from last status check.
• Removes information about the organisation's own email domain(s) from exported records.
